The Soul of the Pilgrim
A Journey inward as well as outward

The tradition of going to sacred and holy sites is common across many cultures and faith traditions. We all are invited to 'Come away to a quiet place' where we can pray, reflect on our life journey, rest or challenge ourselves.
In Ireland, there are many places of pilgrimage associated with various saints, as well as Holy Wells,Mass rocks, lakes and islands.
One of the oldest places of Pilgrimage in Ireland is Lough Derg, also known as St. Patricks Purgatory. Here pilgrims from all over Ireland and abroad, leave their daily life and routine and embark on three days on the island which include fasting, staying awake for 24 hours, and walking barefoot while taking part in a very old meditative form of prayer.

To make the Pilgrim Journey alone can be a daunting prospect for some.
Caraiosa Centre is happy to include this special week in the schedule of retreats planned for the Centre this year.
